VCF, backup configuration

Backup implementation for VMware component is fairly easy. Just the requirements is to configure SFTP server in proper way and make it network available to the VMware components.

SDDC Manager and NSX Manager backup

In VCF Operations it is possible to configure backup for SDDC Manager and NSX Manager.

Go to the Administration -> SDDC Manager tab:

Configure backup schedule:

Backup for VCF Management Node, VCF Automation and VCF Identity Broker

Backup for VCF Management Node, VCF Automation and VCF Identity Broker can be configured also in VCF Operations, in Fleet Management -> lifecycle -> settings -> backup settings

Firstly, configure SFTP Settings (VCF Operations, in Fleet Management -> lifecycle -> settings -> SFTP Settings) with the following parameters:

Please pay attention, above configuration allows to nicely store your passwords.

In backup settings, edit Component you want to configure backup on. Configure time and retention policy.

Backup can be triggered using the “Management Node Backup”

In addition, configure all vCenters with backup (as always, using vCenter Server Management, default port 5480 – https://vcenter-address:5480/#ui/backup)
