Ustawianie sieci w VMWare Player

VMware Player nie ma “domyślnie” zainstalowanego narzędzia do konfiguracji sieci.

Problem pojawia się wtedy, kiedy w komputerze mamy kilka kart sieciowych (czyli praktycznie zawsze). Player binduje sieć wirtualną z losową siecią na komputerze.

Rozwiązanie polega na uzyskaniu z instalatora odpowiednich plików które umożliwią uruchomienie konfiguratora sieci.

  • mkdir \tmp\vmware
  • Rozpakować instalator VMware Player w jakimś katalogu: VMware-player-wersjaxxxx.exe /e c:\tmp\vmware
  • Wyodrębnić pliki z c:\tmp\vmware\network.cab i skopiować je do katalogu c:\program files(x86)\VMware\VMware Player –lub bez (x86) jeśli 32bit
  • Uruchomić program: vmnetcfg.exe i ustawić odpowiednią kartę sieciową.
